| Seminar on "Customized Policy Wordings - effective from January 2009" At Baroda - 14/02/2009. |
Unison Baroda office organized one day seminar on “Customized Policy Wordings-effective from January, 2009” at Baroda on 14th February, 2009 i.e. Saturday at Gateway Hotel” (formerly known as Taj Hotel).
This was the third Seminar in series after two successful seminars at Mumbai on 10th January, 2009 and at Delhi on 31st January, 2009 on the same topic with a sole intention of bringing awareness of current scenario in General Insurance amongst the insuring public.
Incidentally, this was the 10th seminar hosted by Unison at Baroda in past 10 years of it’s existence.
The road map drawn by IRDA for liberalized General Insurance market paved one step further when, it was decided by IRDA to allow Insurance Companies to file their own products and place in the market effective from 1st January 2009. Of course the underline dictum was “File and Use”.
The Seminar was attended by over 150 Executive representing cross section of Industries in and around Baroda, Ahmedabad, Surat at other parts of Gujrat.
Mr. Nirajkumar, General Manager (Tech.) of The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. Delhi addressed the seminar as one of the key speakers and appraised the hourse of current market situation in India and informed that IRDA is yet to approve various products and “ADD ON” covers filed by Oriental and other insurers. Mr. Nirajkumar however gave broad out line as to what type of “ADD ON” covers which are likely to come in the market once approval is given by IRDA. He opined that new products and these “ADD ONs” will provide more opportunities of tailored covers in days to come.
Seminar was also addressed by another key speaker Mr. Swaraj Krishna, CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co. Ltd., Pune. Mr. Krishna was of the opinion that current policy wordings are time tested in India market and have stood to the test of law suits. There is a need of cautious move before going in to tailored wordings. Mr. Krishna also shared his views on current scenario of the industry and possible developments.
Mr. Kaushal K Mishra, Executive Vice President of Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd., Mumbai was also another key speaker to the seminar and address the house of developments Tata AIG is looking in to once new products are approved by IRDA.
On behalf of Clients Mr. Deepak Shah, Vice President(Finance) of INEOS ABS (India) Ltd., Baroda was invited to offer his views on expectations of Insured in the time of “customized policy wordings”. Mr. Shah specifically expressed that in the time of tailor made policy wordings, it would be the responsibility of Customer to be carefull of wordings provided and to make the insurance full proof, they would need services of professional intermediaries like “Brokers”.
The Open House session was quite interactive and more so, feedback received for Seminar was quite encouraging.
